Our department, which was established in 1996, started accepting students in the 1998-1999 academic year. Department of Music Education is located in Block E within the Anafartalar Campus, Faculty of Education, in the city center. Our department, which aims to train qualified music teachers in line with the contemporary music understanding drawn by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk for music education in Turkey, had its first graduates in the 2002-2003 academic year.
The aim of our Department of Music Education is to train self-educated, qualified and open-minded music teachers according to the requirements of the age; The education period is 4 years and the language is Turkish. Scientific and artistic events such as seminars, conferences, workshops, concerts and recitals organized with the participation of experts during the academic year, as well as recitals of faculty members, especially the "Department Choir" and "Department Orchestra" concerts organized every year with the participation of our students, It is aimed to develop the scientific and artistic personalities of our students within the framework of training versatile music teachers through chamber music ensembles and student concerts. Two separate programs are carried out in our department: "Bachelor's Degree in Music Teaching" and "Master's Degree in Music Teaching with Thesis".
In order to receive education in the Department of Music Education; After obtaining a certain success score from TYT; It is necessary to pass a special talent exam that includes musical hearing, musical playing and musical singing dimensions. It is very important that candidates who choose the Department of Music Education love children, be patient and tolerant, have communication skills and be a guide who can provide suitable learning environments.
In order to graduate from the undergraduate program, students; They must be successful in a minimum of 240 ECTS credits by obtaining at least DD/S grades from all courses specified in the curriculum, have a GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, and complete their compulsory internship within the specified period and with the specification. Our students who successfully complete the program receive a bachelor's degree and the title of "Music Teacher". Students who graduate from the department work as teachers in public or private schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education; They can have an academic career opportunity through postgraduate education, and they can also work as art consultants in various public and private institutions/organizations.
